USC & Cal State Long Beach MESA Projects: Schools of Engineering
MESA Program
Kids Talk Radio was at California State University Long Beach visit with high school students in the California MESA Program. MESA stands for mathematic, engineering, science and achievement. We met with Ben Louie, Associate Director of MESA from the USC Viterbl School of Engineering and his support staff. Here is our photo essay of our visit with the USC team and their high school students.
MESA helps develop the STEM workforce that California needs by increasing rates of college eligibility, transfer and degree completion. the program offers academic support to students with STEM potential who are first in their families to attend college, are low-income and attend (or have attended) low-performing schools with few resources. MESA assistance is available along the entire academic pathway including K-12, community college and university level.
Kids Talk Radio was looking for students that could participate in the enhanced STEM program called, "The Cabo Verde Tenth Island Project." We are making plans to talk with advisors from both California State University Long Beach Engineering Departments and the USC School of Engineering.
